The safety and well-being of our communities will always be our number one priority. We’re committed to ensuring that our passengers and drivers feel as safe as possible when using our services.
We've developed a unique set of tools and features designed to keep you safe while riding or driving with Bolt in Kenya.
Share ride details
Passengers can send their ride's make, model, registration number and live location via a shareable link. All trips are also tracked and recorded.
Help at the tap of a button
Courtesy of Rescue, passengers can quickly and discreetly alert the emergency services by tapping on a special SOS button inside the app.
Your number stays private
When drivers or passengers make a call via the internet (VoIP), the phone number remains hidden.
The Women-only ride-type
A special ride-type that allows women to request rides only from women drivers.
24/7 customer support
Our support team is always online. Send an email to
or share your reports and queries directly through the Bolt app.
Drivers must pass a thorough background check and receive an official police clearance certificate before they're allowed to use the platform.
Driving shift limits
Bolt drivers must stick to a set driving shift, allowing them to get sufficient rest and always stay fresh and alert at the wheel.
Staying safe before, during
and after your trip
Check that the driver’s face and registration plate match those shown in the app.
Our Share Ride Details feature and Emergency Assist button allow you to ride with extra peace of mind.
Rate your driver honestly. Drivers who repeatedly receive low ratings will lose access to the platform.
Safer journeys — before, during and after your trip
At Bolt, our mission is to connect you with affordable rides at the touch of a button. At the heart of this mission is to ensure that those rides are as safe as possible – before, during and after.
